Sitting in The Pointe Restaurant, watching the seabirds dancing in the wind and the massive waves crashing on the shoreline, often sending ocean spray on the windows, is an awe-inspiring experience that invigorates the soul.

As we came across this singular British Columbia slice of heaven, we knew we had to dig in and grasp the formula that, since 1996, has been responsible for converting guests into passionate promoters for this secluded property. We turned to Ms. Shawna Gardham, who, with her eyes filled with enthusiasm and pride, unveiled the veil for us.

• The Pointe Restaurant has a sweeping 240-degree view of the lively Pacific Ocean. There is a microphone outside that pipes in the sounds of nature. Guests can enjoy the sunrise and sunset while watching the waves roll by. Local wildlife and surfers are a regular sight;
• The Wickaninnish Inn property features two accommodations buildings, including Wickaninnish at the Pointe and Wickaninnish on the Beach. Each lobby has its own breathtaking views for guests to enjoy upon arrival: Wickaninnish on the Beach lobby with two-story windows overlooking Chesterman Beach and Wickaninnish at the Pointe lobby with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the Pacific Ocean.

Each of the Wickaninnish Inn’s 75 guest rooms features an ocean or beach view, gas fireplace, and individual balcony. The Canopy Suite is the Inn's most exceptional accommodation in the Wickaninnish-on-the-Beach Building. With floor-to-ceiling windows stretching across the room, guests have a stunning panoramic view of Chesterman Beach and the Pacific Ocean. The suite’s living room area features a full wet bar and a romantic fireplace, inviting guests to relax in a serene atmosphere; in contrast, a visit to the private balcony is all about enjoying the salty wind sweeping in the fragrance of the beach from below. Wake up refreshed in the canopy-adorned King-size bed, and enjoy the stately bathroom with heated tile flooring, a double-soaker bathtub, and a multi-jet shower for two, all overlooking Chesterman Beach.

The Wickaninnish Inn is planted on the western section of Vancouver Island, surrounded by nothing but ocean and forest. The closest major urban center is the city of Vancouver, about a 5-hour drive away, involving ferry-crossing the scenic Strait of Georgia. The small Tofino-Long Beach Airport, only moments away from the hotel, hosts regular flights from Vancouver, Victoria, and Seattle.
