The Hotel’s Window
In January 1835, while aboard the HMS Beagle, Charles Darwin witnessed the last eruption of the Osorno Volcano, one of Chile’s most iconic natural landmarks, often dubbed the “Mount Fuji of South America”. Fast-forwarding to the present day, a restricted number of guests are invited to call this volcano a neighbor while staying at Hotel AWA in Los Lagos Region, a gateway to the Chilean Patagonia. Since rooms face east, the floor-to-ceiling windows perfectly frame the lake and volcano, allowing for eye-popping vistas, thus making it tremendously hard to leave.

Insider’s Knowledge
Hypnotized by these hotel views, we turned to Ms. Agustina Mussolini, whose enthusiasm and affection for this special place on earth became evident in a matter of minutes. Answer by answer, she guided us through Hotel AWA and what is in for those choosing to stay there while venturing into the Chilean Patagonia.

Two particular venues capture anyone’s attention due to their scenic views: the on-site restaurant and our two-lane, glass-walled semi-Olympic pool.
We offer all-inclusive packages, meaning our guests are invited to experience our awarded restaurant’s delicacies from breakfast to dinner, always surrounded by sweeping water views.
Together with a spa and a gym, our spectacular pool plays a critical role in our in-house wellness facilities and offers a calming lake view.

What is interesting about our Hotel AWA’s architecture project is that rooms were originally planned to allow in the epic views of Lake Llanquihue and the Osorno volcano, which were elements that have been around long before us. This fits our philosophy of blending in with the surrounding nature rather than imposing our presence. As such, all guest accommodations offer views. With that said, it is still possible to single out a few units:
Villa Suite # 51 has a walk-out balcony on two sides with both sunset & sunrise with panoramic views of Lake Llanquihue and the majestic Osorno Volcano.
Suite #41 on the top floor & our Superior room #46 both have fantastic sunset/sunrise over Lake Llanquihue and the omnipresent Osorno Volcano.

Let me start by saying that Lake Llanquihue and the Osorno Volcano views are always the focal points of our hotel. Over the years, we’ve seen guests interacting with these elements in different fashions, from romantic dinners on our wooden deck to kayaking on the lake and having breakfast served at their suite’s private balcony. In a sense, Nature did some of its finest work in this region, leading to a truly breathtaking landscape. Ultimately, at Hotel AWA, we only aim to magnify the experience further.

“Peaceful.”

Luxury is our sense of place, it’s the details in our architecture, design, and our exemplary staff that create an environment that is all about delivering a personal experience.

Hotel’s Location
Surrounded by some of Chile’s most spectacular National Parks, Hotel AWA is planted by Lake Llanquihue shore and is an ideal base to explore Patagonia. The closest town is Puerto Varas, a 30-minute drive from the property. The best way to reach the hotel is to fly into Puerto Montt, which is particularly convenient for those traveling from Chile. Bariloche Airport (a 4-hour drive away from the hotel) is probably the ideal alternative for international travelers coming from abroad.
