Memmo Alfama - Design Hotels (4 Star)
BOOK MEMMO ALFAMA - DESIGN HOTELS (in cooperation with Booking.com)
Welcome to Alfama, the oddly picturesque Lisbon district in which the old voices of Fado still resonate on each and every corner of the narrow streets, and new talents are born every year. And welcome again to Memmo Alfama - Design Hotels, the first boutique hotel that was raised in this sinuous, full-of-history Lisbon area. The Memmo Alfama - Design Hotels is already a benchmark for modern, urban hotels, and Wallpaper magazine rated it as one of the best in 2014. In fact, this memorable boutique hotel was built after the complete restoration of a late 19th-century building and it has definitely redefined the standards of contemporary style (wonderfully) integrated in a historical area. 42 rooms ease up your mood fully displaying the river and Alfama before your eyes. Our favorites? The Terrace Rooms with their small wooden decks over the Tagus River. São Jorge Castle is a few steps away; you'll fall in love with the amazing restaurants that enchant you with their amazing food or the deeply heart-felted Fado songs, the little streets with their hidden corners and shades of green ... It will be hard to leave sensual Alfama... but if you're able to resist, just walk and, in less than 10 minutes, Rossio, Chiado or Baixa will welcome you again.

H10 Duque de Loule (4 Star)
BOOK H10 DUQUE DE LOULE (in cooperation with Booking.com)
Marquês de Pombal is probably the largest square and truly Lisbon's epicenter, named after a remarkable man who reconstructed the city in the aftermath of Lisbon's earthquake in 1755. Some of the city's main arteries (such as Liberty, the avenue that leads to Restauradores and Rossio) depart from here. One of them is Duque de Loule, where H10 Duque de Loule hotel can be found. Opened in March 2015, it is an exclusive Lisbon hotel that lies in an 18th-century building which stands out easily in the area, the beautiful facade proudly rising as the street goes up. H10 Duque de Loule was meticulously renovated and decorated by the catalan designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán. The interiors blend traditional Portuguese elements (such as giant walls in blue and white tiles, where historical scenes are pictured) with modern facilities. The 89 rooms are an ode to comfort and some of them offer picturesque views of the area. However, the sights on the top floor, and particularly the ones at ´Limão (Lemon) Chill-out Terrace' are anything but spectacular. It's the perfect place to enjoy a cool drink at sunset and unwind for a while as one contemplates the slow pace of the light, falling from the city into the river in a deep, peaceful plunge.

Lisboa Carmo Hotel (4 Star)
BOOK LISBOA CARMO HOTEL (in cooperation with Booking.com)
Lisbon is a deadly romantic city. And if you come in May, not only the temperatures are amazingly nice (easily up to 26ºC) but also some strong blossoming trees' perfume will be in the air. Now, one of the wonderful species that populate almost every Lisbon's corner are the beautiful Jacarandás, their flashing violet flowers and incredible sweet odor turning every visitor's head in delight. If you're looking for a place to stay in Lisbon and the latter has fulfilled your senses, book a room at the fabulous Lisboa Carmo Hotel. It is placed next to Largo do Carmo, a square full of charm, partly due to the inviting restaurant's terraces, greatly owed to the Jacarandás that encircle it. You'll be able to stare at them if you choose the right room; opt for an upper floor and then you'll be enamored by the light of the Tagus River or the sight of São Jorge Castle. Lisboa Carmo Hotel is a very pleasant boutique hotel in one of Lisbon's best areas. An agreeable mix of culture, fashion, food and nightlife is next door. You can walk for the best shopping of all (3 minutes to Rua Garrett, Rua do Carmo or Bairro Alto), you can stroll a little more and know all the churches around (they're worth the visit, especially São Roque), you can ride one of the oldest elevators in town (Elevador de Santa Justa) and reach Rossio or the incredible Praça do Comércio, and, finally... you can go for a promenade at night and seduce your beloved with the lights, the food and the warmth of this very special city named Lisboa.

Does the song that says 'I want it all and I want it now' describe you? Willing to fit those criteria on your next visit to Lisbon? Then remember this name: BessaHotel Liberdade. Why? #1: It's one of the fanciest hotels in Lisbon. Cleverly hidden in an ancient building, its interiors vibrate in golden tones and vintage objects, tempered by the whiteness of a delightful indoor pool that gently drives you to a peaceful patio covered in green. #2: BessaHotel Liberdade lies in one of the best places to stay at in Lisbon. As Janelas Verdes (4 Star)
BOOK AS JANELAS VERDES (in cooperation with Booking.com)
There is a small, charming hotel that lies in one of the prettiest and noblest Lisbon's streets. It was named after the street itself - As Janelas Verdes (The Green Windows) - and it it epitomizes a certain kind of atmosphere that can only be experienced in a city like Lisbon. Considered one of the city's best boutique hotels, it is nested in an 18th-century building. The interiors are elegantly classic, the service immaculate. The romantic hotel has a kind of a home ambiance with photos, books and art objects displayed in a cozy manner. There is an exquisite rooftop library where a graceful terrace is suspended over the waters of the Tagus River. There is also a courtyard full of plants and flowers which is a perfect setting for breakfast during spring and summer (incidentally, the nicest seasons to visit Lisbon). The rooms' atmosphere is as rich as to drive your imagination into romantic old days where poems were written by the window at the sight of green, blue waters... As Janelas Verdes Hotel is on the banks of Lisbon's river, next to the Ancient Art Museum (a must!), encircled by the old Lisbon districts of Lapa, Madragoa and Santos. Well known Lisbon restaurants can be found over there, as well as famous Fado spots, like Senhor Vinho or A Casa da Mariquinhas.

A Techie, are you? One of those that like to be in control, fully independent, no need for help (unless he/she is a gifted barman - after all an excellent Dry Martini cannot be prepared by a mobile phone). Dear guest, if this description suits you and you're planning a visit to Lisbon, look for the giant black hand that 'sustains' a modern building at Saldanha Square (one Lisbon's business districts, also an upscale residential area) for it symbolizes the 'you - hotel'. EVOLUTION Lisboa Hotel is quite a futuristic concept; when you enter the place its seems you're entering a science fiction film (which is rather unusual being in one of the oldest European capitals). At EVOLUTION Lisboa Hotel you'll be in total control of your stay: self check-in, self check-out, room temperature, lights and curtains through your own hotel's smartphone app or in-room flat screen TV. The overall ambiance is state-of-the art-tech, ultra modern. For a change, you may stare at the window... the views display the traditional Lisbon beauty in its light colors enhanced by the ever-blue sky that makes this city such an irresistible place.

BOOK LX BOUTIQUE HOTEL (in cooperation with Booking.com)
Lx stands for Lisboa (the abbreviated way Lisbon citizens use to write it down) but also for Lisbon Experience. The truth is you'll have both if you opt to stay at Lx Boutique Hotel. First of all, the location: this boutique hotel lies at Alecrim, a sloping street that connects the districts of Cais do Sodré, Baixa and Chiado. A vibrant city's artery, Alecrim is the best connection for Lisbon's shopping, gastronomy or nightlife. Right across Lx Boutique Hotel, Pensão Amor is a great place to drink and dance after dinner; a bit further down, Rua Côr de Rosa (the pink street) is an amazing spot where several signature restaurants and bars meet. But if you're fond of sushi, do not miss Confraria, the trendy sushi restaurant at Lx Boutique Hotel. Let us now mention the hotel itself: imaginative design invades the entire place, including theme rooms full of original elements and particular amenities. However, the top of the pops are the balconies: every single room comes with one, and the views will drive you crazy. Can you imagine waking up with the Tagus River stretching its curves lazily before your eyes or silver-shining by the moonlight? No you can't, you have to live it.

Hotel do Chiado (4 Star)
BOOK HOTEL DO CHIADO (in cooperation with Booking.com)
In 1988 a devastating fire destroyed a significant part of Lisbon, namely the majority of Chiado. Several historical buildings were completely wiped out; amidst them were the beloved Armazéns do Chiado, a centenary store whose facade was a Lisbon's icon. The reconstruction began twenty years after by the talented hands and brain of Portuguese architect Siza Vieira. Entire blocks were rebuilt and, in the exact place where previously one could find the Armazéns do Chiado, Hotel do Chiado was born. As most of Siza Vieira's oeuvres, this is a space where light is privileged. The tall windows, the whiteness of the walls, the puristic design, all work to let the unique Lisbon's light in, side by side with some of the most marvelous views. Yes, a lot of things can be said about Hotel do Chiado. We may mention the smart decoration, the coolness of the rooms, the great service. But to be very honest, the thing that drove us completely insane were the vistas. Hotel do Chiado offer rooms with private terraces that bring São Jorge Castle and the Tagus River right into your premises. However, if you're not satisfied you may as well go for the complete overdose: at the terrace, the bar 'Entretanto' is a deep 180º plunge to Baixa, Alfama and then up to the Castle. Hotel do Chiado lies in one of trendiest Lisbon's districts, neighboring Bairro Alto and Baixa, 10 minutes away from Principe Real.

Palacete Chafariz Del Rei
BOOK PALACETE CHAFARIZ DEL REI (in cooperation with Booking.com)
"Palacete" is an adorable Portuguese word. It means palazzetto, small palace. Lisbon is full of beautiful palacetes; a truly remarkable one is Palacete Chafariz Del Rei. Located just beneath one of the most cherished Lisbon districts, Alfama, this former aristocratic home overlooks the never ending Lisbon light as it pours brilliantly over the river. Lisboetas are proud of Palacete Chafariz del Rei: it's impossible to miss the 1800's Neo-Moorish styled architecture; and the Brazilian Art Nouveau interiors stand for an example of meticulous preservation. All suites are marvelous and, guess what, 4 of them were named after the owner's sisters. Ask about our favorite and we'll hesitate between Deluxe Vista Rio or Deluxe Grand Torreão. The first one is extremely romantic and sexy: stuccoed white ceilings contrasting with color explosions here and there, ravishing views over the Tagus River... However, there is still Deluxe Grand Torreão to describe: how wonderful can it be to relax or have breakfast on your private little tower (torreão) while the pristine city and the river surrender at your feet?! Palacete Chafariz Del Rei is one of those special places that deserve the category of Home Design Hotel. It feels like home, indeed, and the centenary bougainvillea at the terrace could possibly tell a thousand tales. Live it at the most - we'll tell you how in a second: plan your trip to Lisbon with 5 more couples and have one of the best hotels in Lisbon just for you. How exclusive does that sound?

Torel Palace is probably one of Lisbon's best kept secrets. Situated next to one of the most romantic gardens in town - the lovely Jardim do Torel - it feels almost a sacrilege to call it a guesthouse. A complete renovation travelled this 19th-century mansion to our era, paying full respect for the ancient style while placing it in the present. The romance allure is still there, surrounded by gardens and the beautiful pool that invites for early mornings when the air and the sky are heavenly bright, or to warm, dramatic Lisbon sunsets. If possible, plan your stay for Spring or Summer; there are no words to explain what a privilege it is to have a swim while this amazing city plunges in surrender before your eyes. Torel Palace lies in one of the quietest areas in Lisbon; but the funny thing is the buzz will be happening just next door: fashion shops, boutiques and trendy restaurants at Liberty Avenue, Augusta Street, Chiado, Principe Real or Bairro Alto are reachable by foot, Praça do Rossio and Restauradores, scarcely 10 minutes away. 'Ok, now tell me about the sights in my room', you may ask. Be ready to hold your breath for the panoramas will take you from the Tagus River to São Jorge Castle.

Now, Principe Real is replete with narrow, lovely streets named after flowers; Jasmin Street is one of them and also where you can find Casa do Jasmim by Shiadu. Be where the action but still enjoy serenity; sleep in a place that endures tradition but appreciate how it metamorphosed beautifully. This is Casa Balthazar, one of the best guesthouses in Lisbon. Why? Quite easy to explain: Balthazar Roiz Castanheiro was the founder of Confeitaria Nacional, the oldest patisserie in Lisbon (an unmissable place, by the way). While searching for a family house, he fell in love with this property and bought it in 1882. The family has owned it for five generations as their residence but also as the patisserie's factory; for decades, innumerable Portuguese Christmas Cakes - the delicious Bolo-Rei - and custard tarts - the yummy pastéis de nata - were produced here (the memory is so vivid you can almost feel the smell of those delights in the premises). Come in Summer and you'll have the privileges both of a pool (not very common in Lisbon central areas) and the incredible vistas over the Baixa up to São Jorge Castle. One last thing: forget the car, bring some comfortable shoes: Casa Balthazar is incredibly close to the most famous neighborhoods (all reachable by foot in less than 10 minutes) - Chiado, Baixa, Bairro Alto, and even Sintra or the beaches around Cascais if you consider both train stations are a few steps away.

There is a homey feeling at TheHOUSE Lisboa which is impossible to fake. The truth is the property belongs to the same family for 4 generations; memories are certainly impregnated in the walls, the inherent cozy feeling of a family (and a Portuguese one) is felt allover the place. More so when the owner is the grandson of the man who built it. TheHOUSE Lisboa is thus a different kind of holiday experience in Lisbon. There is no typical 'hotel atmosphere'; rather the sensation of being at home. The rooms have kept their original names, the ones we would probably use at our grannies': there is a 'Boys' room', a 'Girls' room', 'The Nanny's room', of course ‘Grandfather's', and even a 'Playroom'. Some of them have balconies from which you can enjoy very pretty views of the city and the river. Beautiful little palaces are everywhere, the shadows of elegant Jacarandas, Ailanthus or Gingko Bilobas refresh you at every step, a fairytale-like Botanical Garden invites you in, a central park (Príncipe Real Garden) delights you with its flowers and trees, including an impressive 1940's cypress with a 26 meter-long top. Right across the street, on the other side of the park, there is a wonderfully preserved yellow 18th-century building. Most of the floors house families, except for the first: welcome to Casa do Príncipe. Casa do Príncipe is an irresistible B&B, named after the neighborhood and King D.Pedro V. The place is a must in Lisbon centre: the rooms, unbelievably spacious, allow lovely vistas of the gardens to come in. All the goodies from the past were preserved and enhanced: the original wooden floors, the stuccoes at the walls and ceilings, the frescoes here and there. The walls were painted in daring colors, the whole ambiance is fresh and bright. Our favorite room? Queen D. Estefânia Suite, terribly romantic in its pink accent, the 3 windows and the lovely balcony overlooking the trees... Casa do Principe is less than 7 minutes away from Bairro Alto, Chiado or Liberty Avenue. Signature restaurants and trendy shops are everywhere. Nevertheless... you'll hear the birds sing. Oh yes, this is heaven in Lisbon!

Monte Belvedere by Shiadu
BOOK MONTE BELVEDERE BY SHIADU (in cooperation with Booking.com)
Santa Catarina is one of Lisbon's 7 hills, and one of the most beautiful and emblematic. Near Chiado and Bairro Alto areas, this is a surprisingly quiet Lisbon district. Once named Monte do Pico e do Belveder (Peak and Belvedere Mount), it was the favored spot for all those who admired watching the movement of ships between the 15th and 18th centuries. Monte Belvedere by Shiatsu is nestled in this privileged location. Built in the 20's, it belonged to a French family and housed their perfume factory as well. Monte Belvedere by Shiatsu is a stunning building that was thoroughly rehabilitated into 12 double and family rooms which maintain some of the old days character (the wooden stairs and original windows) and offer ravishing sights of the Tagus River and the city. There is also a 170 square meter terrace with breathtaking panoramas of Lisbon rooftops and the river up to the opposite shore... enjoy them all at lunch or dinner at Madame Petisca, the on-site restaurant and bar, already a must in Lisbon.
