How inviting is that yellow lounge chair facing directly one of Amsterdam's canals? What better place to read a book or have a cup of tea while watching the boats pass by your upscale hotel? All this is possible when picking a room with a canal view on the stylish Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht, situated by one of Amsterdam's main canals: the Prinsengracht. Contemporary and fashionable rooms and suites have been personally decorated by Marcel Wanders, one of the most prominent Dutch designers (floor-to-ceiling windows always help to portray magnificent canal views). This refined hotel's location is exceptional, minutes away from Anne Frank House (located by the same Amsterdam canal), the Rijksmuseum, Vondelpark (a large public urban park), Leidseplein, (Amsterdam's nightlife epicenter), Van Gogh Museum and Dam Square. Summing it all up, the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is an exceptional choice for those looking for a terrific design hotel in Amsterdam with unforgettable views and a top location.

Amsterdam's traditional townhouses are essential to the city's cultural identity. That being said, we found it very interesting that Pulitzer Amsterdam, one of Amsterdam's best hotels (in 2022, it was named the best by Travel & Leisure), is a set of 25 inter-connected townhouses facing the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht canals. Staying in a townhouse is quite interesting as one quickly experiences a sense of belonging to the city - a perfect way to stay with your better half if you ask us. For instance, you can wake up to a glorious canal view and head for breakfast at the trendy Nine Streets complex, where locals gather and enjoy life. At the Pulitzer Amsterdam, guests can choose between themed suites: books, antiques, music, art, and Pulitzer - the most challenging task will be to take a pick. The hotel's nearby attractions include Dam Square, Anne Frank's House, Westerkerk church, Boom Chicago, and Magna Plaza shopping mall. A word of advice: instead of taking the usual tourist Amsterdam canal cruise, choose to see Amsterdam from Pulitzer’s classic salon boat, which dates back to 1909. In 1946, just after the end of the Second World War, Winston Churchill toured the city in this unique boat. How’s that for an encounter with Amsterdam’s recent history?

By staying in the Nine Streets area, guests can find a wide variety of eateries, shops, and art galleries at their doorstep. Also, Amsterdam's attractions, like the unmissable Anne Frank's House, the Begijnhof, and the impressive Royal Palace Amsterdam, are within easy reach of this stylish hotel.

This high-end hotel’s location in the Southern Canal Belt is unbeatable, moments away from Gouden Bocht ("Golden Bend"), the most reputable part of the Herengracht area, which some of the wealthiest locals call home. Offering 200 rooms and suites, the eco-conscious Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam accounts for one of the best stays in the city and is the definition of understated luxury and elegance. At first glance, it is impossible to ignore the building’s contemporary architecture, where a full-glass facade hints that guests lodging here are in for a fantastic view of Amsterdam’s harbor. Once inside and passing by the atrium, natural elements like timber and tropical plants instantly reveal the interior designers' inspiration - Indonesia, as well as the hotel’s concern with running a sustainable operation. Moving into the rooms and suites, these are impeccably appointed, feature floor-to-ceiling windows to allow the light in, and in many cases, include a water-facing balcony; if you’d ask us about our preferred ones, we’d say the six corner suites. As passionate about perfect views as we are, we can’t skip recommending a visit to Malabar, a sky bar located on the 8th and 9th floors of the hotel, which we consider to be one of the most outstanding panoramic bars in Amsterdam. For those who value wellness facilities, the hotel’s WellCome Wellness offers access to a stunning swimming pool, a sauna, and fitness facilities. The Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam is situated in the Eastern Docklands area, close to galleries and music venues.

Rising 23 floors above the ground is a solid reason to believe that the five-star Hotel Okura Amsterdam boasts some of the best panoramic views over the Dutch capital. When arriving at the hotel for the first time, ask one of the friendly receptionists to assign you a high-floor room, and you'll be gazing out at Amstelkanaal, Amstel River, Rembrandt Tower (the tallest building in Amsterdam), the unmistakable Munttoren and most of Amsterdam's emblematic churches. As the capital city of a country known as 'The Clockwork Orange,' Amsterdam also breathes football; such devotion reaches its pinnacle at Johan Cruijff ArenA, the largest stadium in the country and home to AFC Ajax. In this context, should you visit Amsterdam to watch a football match, there isn’t a better place to check in than the Jaz in the City Amsterdam, a hotel across the street from the stadium boasting uninterrupted vistas of the iconic structure from many of its room’s windows. Each room’s decor reflects a contemporary style; to some, it may feel a bit extravagant, but to others, it's the perfect balance between boldness and functionality. The four-star hotel is also popular among those attending a show at the adjacent square-shaped Ziggo Dome, a venue renowned for hosting some of Amsterdam’s most noteworthy events. When it’s time to explore Amsterdam, the nearby Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA subway station ensures a smooth, 20-minute connection to the city’s central station.
